United States Capitol
The United States Capitol is the home of the United States Congress and the seat of the legislative branch of the federal government of the United States. It is located in Washington, D.C. at the eastern end of the National Mall. The building has a distinctive dome and is a symbol of the United States and its democracy. The United States Capitol serves as a working office building for members of Congress, as well as a tourist destination, hosting millions of visitors each year.
The building has undergone many renovations and additions over the years, but its original design was created by William Thornton and completed in 1800. The United States Capitol has been the site of important events in American history, including inaugurations of Presidents, Supreme Court sessions, and other ceremonial events. The building is also home to many works of art, including paintings, sculptures, and murals, which tell the story of American history and culture.
